Spit Tobacco Awareness

Apr. 20, 2017

Spit Tobacco use has been linked to many health risks, including:

  • Mouth, tongue, cheek, gun, esophagus, and pancreatic cancer
  • Mouth & tooth problems such as receding gums, gum disease, cavities, and tooth decay
  • Heart disease and high blood pressure
  • Increased risk of heart attack and stroke

Spit Tobacco (or smokeless tobacco/dissolvable tobacco) is of special concern because it’s clear that they are another way for people, especially youth, to experiment with tobacco products and become addicted to nicotine. Because they are so tempting, they can easily poison children.
